Three Simple Ways to Improve Your Diet
Your diet is one of the most important things you can look after, alongside your mental health and physical health. What you eat can have a big impact on how you feel on a daily basis as well as performing at work and when exercising. Eating healthily can help reduce your chances of getting ill, help improve your quality of sleep and reduce your stress levels.
There are many ways in which you can improve your diet which is easily done. You can use an app to track what you eat, add fruit & vegetables to your meals, take supplements like Probiotics, and reduce the amount of alcohol you drink (if you drink any). Below we look into three simple ways to improve your diet.
Reduce the Amount of Alcohol You Drink
The amount of alcohol you drink on a weekly basis can have a big impact on your overall diet. Alcohol is full of calories and can affect the way you sleep at night. If you enjoy a drink (or two), you are not alone and we wouldn’t suggest giving it up completely as, like yourself, many people enjoy having a drink. Instead, try to keep an eye on what you are drinking and reduce the number of drinks you have a week. You could look at switching to non-alcoholic drinks like alcohol-free rum or whisky as a way to still be sociable when drinking.
Use An App to Keep Track of What You Eat
How much attention do you give the food you are consuming on a daily basis? Like many, you may not be aware of the nutritional benefits (or negatives) that the food you are eating has. By keeping track of what you are eating, you can quickly understand if the meals you have are healthy or could do with some improvements. Apps will tell you about the nutritional benefits, how many calories your meal has as well as any nutrients you are low in such as vitamin d or vitamin c. The more in-depth you go with tracking what you eat, the more improvements you can make to your diet.
Add Vegetables to Your Meals
If you are trying to improve your diet, one of the easiest ways to make a change is to start adding vegetables to your meals. If you don’t like the taste of vegetables, disguise them within the sauces you are making. For example, when making a lasagne, add additional tomatoes, carrots, and peas as the sauce will disguise the flavors. Another tip would be to add onions and peas to your curry or peppers and spinach to your spaghetti bolognese. With a little research, you’ll notice there are many recipes that vegetables can easily be added to that you may have not realized in the first place
