Ideas To Keep Your Family Entertained Over The Holidays
Tips to keep your family entertained over the holidays. If you are stuck in a rut this time of year, then you are not alone. The time between Christmas and New Year is known as Twixmas. Families will open their fridge and only see leftover Christmas dinner, and there will also be nothing on TV. This can be a tricky time for families as there is nothing much to do except maybe play with the new toys the kids got from Santa. If you have officially run out of ideas to keep the children entertained this Twixmas, then have a look at the article below
Movie Day
If you and the family love films, then there is nothing better than a movie day. This could be at the cinema, which is a bit of a tradition following Boxing Day. Alternatively, you could hold a movie day in the comfort of your own home. This includes each of you picking something to watch to make it fair. You don’t want to upset anyone; family time is wonderful. You can even get little snacks and set up a cozy den. If you want to watch anime, then here is a list of the best anime pirate sites.
Go To The Park
You might be wanting the kids to blow off some steam, being cooped up indoors can get pretty intense for all involved. The park is a great place for everyone, the kids can run about the play equipment, and you can sit and take in the fresh air. You might even want to feed the ducks while you are there. Be aware ducks should not be fed bread as this can cause havoc with their digestive system. You could try birdseed or grapes, as these are always firm favorites with the ducks.
Jet Off
Something else that is a great idea for keeping the kids entertained is jetting off somewhere exotic. If this is a feasible option, then there are some wonderful locations you can visit. You may be working your way through your bucket list, ticking destinations off one by one. If the kids have always wanted to go to Disney, then Twixmas is the perfect time to go. See in the New Year surrounded by those who also love all things Disney. If you want somewhere a bit more peaceful with glorious beaches, then how about the Caribbean? Work out which destination suits you best and book it.
Shopping Trip
Some individuals believe that the best part of Boxing Day is the sales. If you agree, then you might be able to find some amazing treats in the sales. Work out which shops you want to visit and what you need to buy. There may be birthdays coming up early in the year, if this is the case then the Boxing day sales are a great time to buy stuff. You can expect certain items to be around 50% off if not more. Don’t buy what you don’t need just because you think it’s a good deal. If you don’t need it now, then you probably won’t need it in the future.
Museums
If you want to continue learning even when your children are off school, then you could take them to some local museums. Museums are a wonderful place to go and pick up some new knowledge about various things. For instance, if you have a dinosaur lover then you could visit Natural History Museums. Here they can engage with and hear speeches about the different exhibits dotted around. If you have more than one child then they could choose which museums they want to go to.
Games, Games, Games
Did your children get video games for Christmas? If so, you could all take it in turns to play as a family. Mario Kart Racing is a fantastic game to play as a family and all you need is a controller each. You can attach the switch to the TV so you can all see where you are driving. Alternatively, if you want to get the kids away from technology then how about a family board game day? There are plenty of board games that you can play as a family, monopoly and cluedo for instance.

I love the name you gave this time between Christmas and New Year = Twixmas.
My grandkids received money for Christmas. They didn’t leave us alone until we went shopping and they were able to buy what they wanted and could afford. They were also busy with what they got for Christmas. Plus there’s clearance days at the stores. That’s when I pick up wrapping paper and Christmas cards for next year. We did have family gaming time. Which is always fun! We did have movie time too!! I don’t know how many times we watched the normal Christmas movies that come out every Christmas season. We start fooling around with each other saying’Watch out! You’ll shoot your eye out!’
This is definitely the time to create lasting memories!!
That movie “you’ll shoot your eye out” was a favorite of my wife’s family when they were kids and still are..
We love movie days at home. We make fresh popcorn at home and have a selection of candy or desserts.
