How To Make Your Bedroom A Cozy And Relaxing Place

Our bedrooms are our space where we go to unwind, go to sleep and relax after a long day. It’s a place where we could be ourselves where we could have things that make us happy and feel calm and relaxed. Having a bedroom focused on more cozy and relaxing vibes is very important and can help your overall well-being and mental health. Here are a few ways that you can make your bedroom cozier and more relaxing to help you escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The Lighting Is Important

Pitch black or bright lights are not relaxing at all. Do you want that sweet spot where it’s a cozy warm glow and you can even emphasize this by adding candlelight? There are lots of different ways that you can work on the lighting in the bedroom. This can be done by implementing a dimmer switch into the main light in the ceiling so you can turn the lighting down to suit you and your preference. You can get lamps. around the room which will give a softer light than the ceiling light and you can also change that to a warm yellow glow with different bulbs. If you want very low light you could look at getting some candles and if you’re worried about the flames you can also get battery-powered candles now which don’t have a real flame and you can set them to turn on for a little bit of time add some of them even have a flicker motion so it looks like a real candle. The other way to make the room seem cozier in a lighting way is by having string fairy lights. You can put these whatever you want to arrange a ceiling around the bed head or anywhere that suits you. These also add a magical feel to it. And with string lights, you can get all different varieties. You get ones where the lights are and flowers or feathers as well as different characters like dinosaurs or ballerinas which are perfect for the kid’s rooms

Your Bed Is The Focal Point Of The Room

Just like the sofa is in the living space in your bedroom, the bed is your focal point and is most likely the place where you’re going to sit down for the evening and lay down and relax after a long day. Your bed is also the place where you spend almost half your life sleeping so having good quality and comfy bed is crucial. You don’t want to wake up every morning with back pain and not feeling rested as it can affect your mood for the whole day as well as physically affect you. Another important factor when it comes to your bed is the bedding and linen that you have with it. Bedding is something a lot of people forget to clean often. So if you have Sunday as a reset day then make sure you just pop your bedding in every Sunday to wash and dry this will make sure you’ve got clean bedding and it won’t have any dead skin cells muck or germs that can affect you. The bedding sheets are also important and you want to make sure you have a good amount of good quality bedding to be able to change it regularly which will also tie into the room and can give a whole different feel depending on the pattern and design choice. A great choice for learning is to look at hotel linens as you are always comfortable in a hotel and they always have really good quality sheets so using this as a guide is a great starting point.

Keep It Clean And Tidy

To have a room be a relaxing environment you need to remove any clutter and any mess. A cluttered space equals a cluttered mind. Over the years people do tend to acquire things and nearly everyone has a junk drawer where things are just fine and forgotten about. But this can just lead to a mess, more dust, and having things that you don’t need or want. Spend some time in your room and completely declutter and get rid of anything you no longer need and you know that you want so try to keep the space as minimal as possible. A great place to start is your wardrobe. There are bound to be clothes in there which have never been worn or potentially won’t ever be worn again these are the things that you want to get rid of. There’s no point wasting the space and keeping things that you don’t need and you don’t want a special one that someone could use. Donate things to a charity that are in good condition and anything that isn’t just get rid of them. Then move on to the other things like the trinkets, books, and all the other random stuff that people have in their bedrooms. Once you’ve finished you will see a huge improvement and it will make you feel a lot better and more relaxed when you’re in the room.

Add Some Art Into Your Room

Plain walls can make the room seem bare and make the space feel like a hospital or a waiting room. It’s not cozy and it’s not relaxing. Adding some art and images into your room is a great way to add some color, some life as well as things that will make you happy. One of the trends at the moment is having a gallery wall. This is where you have different size prints and pictures and I have them on the wall which comes together to look incredible. You can choose from a range of text, quotes, photos, or paintings and put them together however you want. It could be something that motivates you money each morning by having a positive or inspiring quote to wake up to and see every day, it could be a picture of a loved one you want to see every day with all of your kids. The possibilities are endless and it’s up to you but it will really make a difference and tie the room together.

  • I completely agree that adding art can make a huge difference. Our room was super clean and tidy, but I felt like it was missing something – once we added some art, it really made the room feel like ours!

  • That’s a nice bedroom! The lighting and everything is fine, the only thing I don’t have is art which I never thought about adding something like that to my room.
