Halloween has always had traditions with my wife’s family. Back when we first got married we would take the boys to their Poppa and Grandma Ryan’s to meet up with the other cousins. We would walk around Watkins Glen from house to house (it is a small town and we knew who you could trust to go to). Becky, her Mom, Dad, and the babies at the time stayed back and handed out candy to their Trick-or-Treaters.

The photo above was I think the first and only year I actually dressed up. I always had great Halloween ideas but that wouldn’t happen until after Halloween was over.

Then when we got back we would have the kids dump out their buckets and go through their candy just to make sure nothing bad was in there. We also would allow them to trade what wasn’t their favorite with their cousins for something they may not find as a favorite.

As a family we would have snacks and visit until it was time to go home.

This was the year that Brad decided to be the superhero Batman and Ethan (our son) decided he wanted to be a businessman like his Poppa Ryan. My father-in-law back then was an insurance agent.
