Does Cell Phone Frequency Harm Your Health?
People spend nearly five hours each day on their phones. In one year, that amounts to 76 full days.
That’s a lot of time spent using phones. Before cell phones and smartphones became commonplace, hardly anyone would imagine spending so much time using these devices.
And as our phones become more high-tech, they may also carry with them new health risks. One point of concern comes down to cell phone frequency energy, which some believe could cause adverse effects.
Read on to learn if cell phones are really dangerous and how to protect yourself.
Are Cell Phones Bad for You?
The main concern regarding cell phone use comes down to cell phone radio frequency fields. For years, people have speculated over the effects of electromagnetic fields from mobile phones.
Some research has been done on cell phone dangers, but there is still no consensus. The World Health Organization (WHO) notes that radio frequencies from cell phones are only a “potential” carcinogen. The American Cancer Society cites several studies with mixed results.
And other experts, like UC Berkeley’s Joel Moskowitz argue that cell phone radio frequencies are harmful and that more research should be funded by the government.
All in all, it seems that the verdict is out on whether or not cell phones are bad for you.
Cell Phone Health Concerns
Cell phones and smartphones may or may not pose a health risk. And even if we don’t yet have all the answers, it never hurts to proceed with caution.
Before learning how to protect yourself from cell phone risks, it helps to know what those risks actually are.
One of the most notable risks people often discuss is the risk of developing cancer. Cell phone radiation is often believed to cause cancer, which could be potentially life threatening.
Some also believe exposure to cell phone frequencies damages DNA, which could be harmful to adults, children, and even unborn babies.
Nerve damage has also been considered a possible threat. And aside from cancerous tumors, some have also believed cell phones to cause benign tumors, which can still be damaging depending on the type and location in the body.
How to Protect Yourself
If you’re using your cell phone five hours each day like most Americans, it’s important to weigh the potential risks. At this time, we still don’t know the exact dangers of cell phones and cell phone radiation. But it never hurts to limit your exposure as much as possible.
Devices like the TriField TF2 EMF Meter measure electromagnetic fields so you can spot when they’re dangerously high.
You can also try to limit device use and keep phones out of the bedroom while you’re sleeping. Adjusting your settings, like turning off wi-fi or trying airplane mode may also help.
If you must talk on the phone, try to keep it away from your head, using a speaker or earbuds instead.
The Potential Dangers of Cell Phone Frequency
It’s still unclear if cell phone frequency fields and radiation are dangerous or not. For now, do what you can to protect yourself and your health.

I am a student and was learning about light and was looking at the electromagnetic spectrum and it got me thinking about the frequency that our phones emit. I looked up the frequency of 5Ghz network and found that the energy emitted is less than natural light. And so, I was curious how exposure from our phones could cause more harm than the light in which humans have been living in since our exitance.
