My Review of City of Deadly Dreams

Before getting into my review of City of Deadly Dreams I need to preface my review that I have always enjoyed every book I have read by Elyse Douglas. I knew that Elyse Douglas was her pen name but I guess I never read her ‘about area’ because I didn’t realize it was a combination of her and her husband’s first names. As stated down below she and her husband Douglas write together which I feel makes their books even more special. Which I find so very interesting. Ok so now on to my review.

When I started reading ‘City of Deadly Dreams’ I was interested from the very first page. I will admit as a kid I was caught up in Elvis. Not the gyrating hips so much, but his fancy clothes and smooth voice.

The fact that this character was not in the book very much yet a book that was solely centered on him was intriguing. To not only be born on Elvis -the King of Rock’s actual birthday (January 8th). But to actually resemble him in some ways, (his hairstyle/color and the ability to sing and play the guitar). I could see why his parents were so invested in pushing Elvis in this direction.

The biggest problem with what Elvis’s parents dreams for him is they were not his dreams and eventually pushed him away. He also became involved with one of his teachers who was married to the high school gym teacher.

When Dane Cooper was hired to find Elvis his life unbeknownst to him would change forever. Hired by Elvis’s father because Elvis’s mother and father had not seen him for months and were worried.

Mr. Lipps had hired Dane Cooper to find Elvis (his son) and money was not an issue at all. But did Elvis want to be found? Would Dane Cooper find him? And if he did what will happen?

You are going to have to read it if you want to find out. It will be worth your time to read!

This is a great read for the summer!

Praise Daring Summer by Elyse Douglas

“Daring Summer by Elyse Douglas is a well-crafted tale that will keep you reading as you need to know the outcome. This story aptly epitomizes the saying by Confucius, ‘’before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves’’.

An interesting cast of characters helped to drive the plot. It was fun getting to know each of them. Their thoughts and the events that drove their actions stood out making it easy to connect to them.
Daring Summer was an interesting and riveting read. I enjoyed the courtroom drama and loved how the events in that regard unfolded. The story delivered a perfect blend of romance and suspense. The story had depth and was well developed.”-Nadene, Totally Addicted To Reading

“Oooo romantic AND suspenseful! A very exciting, emotional, twisty, and a little scary storyline. The thing is. You really do know “who done it” kind of right from the beginning. But, even with that knowing – Did I have doubts? yep. Did I want to believe it might be someone else? well… kind of. And I just kept wondering – Are they going to catch him? Wait… wasn’t it him? Maybe.
All those twists and turns are what make this a great book and loads of fun to read. Seriously, right up until the end I was unsure if they were going to be able to prove it! It ended up being one of my favorite books of the year!”-Wall-To-Wall Books

“Daring Summer is a very well-written book.  Although you pretty much know how it’s going to end the author still manages to keep you thoroughly captivated. The characters are well developed and interesting. Overall I really enjoyed this book. 5 Stars”- J. George, Amazon: Vine Voice

“Emotional, exciting, sexual, and suspenseful! Exceptional characters that will have you on the edge of your seat and best of all the ending is one that you will never see coming.  A great read any time of the year, just be sure to make time because you will not be able to put this down.”-Dee, Donadee’s Corner
