Best places to stay in Watkins Glen
If you’re searching for some great places to stay while you’re in Watkins Glen, I have compiled a small list of hotels and some campgrounds for you to consider.
Because Watkins Glen is a tourist town, there are a variety of places to stay while you’re enjoying your visit. There are many options for lodging outside of town; but, I’m focusing on hotels that are located in the village, with the exception of one. The one I am featuring outside of town I know you’ll love!
Lakeside Resort
The name says it all! There are several lake view cabins. They offer Queen, King, and King ADA rooms, which is handicap accessible. They are a pet-friendly place, for a fee. Some of the amenities they offer are campfires at night (when the weather allows), High-Speed Cable and Wi-Fi, and heating and air conditioning. You can dine on the premises at the 3812 Bistro. They offer vegan and gluten-free options. They serve a full breakfast menu, or you can enjoy a nice dinner with a glass of wine or beer.
Watkins Motel
Located in the middle of the village, Watkins Motel offers remodeled rooms. They’re located within walking distance from local restaurants, and just a stone’s throw away from the Gorge. They offer free Wi-Fi and they have brand-new flat-screen tv’s. If you’re in town for the annual NASCAR race, Watkins Motel is ten minutes from the track, but, take into consideration traffic to the track.
Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel
Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel is located on the southern point of Seneca Lake. They are a AAA Four Diamond property, with unsurpassed service, excellent amenities, and, depending on which side of the hotel your room is on, a breath-taking view of Seneca Lake. You can relax from a day of exploring by the fire pit, which overlooks the lake. They offer a full restaurant and they have a bar, so you can relax and have a drink before dinner. You won’t be disappointed staying here!
Idlwilde Inn
Idlwilde boasts being the most romantic Bed and Breakfast in Watkins Glen. Constructed in 1892, Idlwilde has eighteen rooms in this Victorian mansion. It’s just a short walk to downtown Watkins Glen. The inn has fifteen guest-appointed rooms, a wrap-around porch, perfect for evening time sitting, and an enclosed gazebo. They offer packages and specials as well. Children under twelve are not allowed.

Watkins Glen KOA Resort
You can camp at the resort with a tent, camper, RV, or stay in one of their deluxe cabins. KOA is very kid-friendly, hosting an awesome playground and two heated pools. They also offer an outdoor pool, which is open on Memorial Day weekend. There are on-site bathrooms/showers for guests in tents or campers and RV’s who don’t wish to use their own, to save weight of carrying wastewater. Other fun activities include 18-hole mini-golf and the jumping pad.
Watkins Glen State Park
Watkins Glen State Park also offers tent, RV and camper options. The park is vast, with walking trails throughout the park. There is an on-site pool and snack bar (normally open Memorial Day weekend), picnic areas, and a playground. The Gorge is within walking distance and many people camp here for NASCAR weekend.
