My Review of Are You Afraid of the Dark?

When our kids were younger, our oldest loved the Goosebumps series. He wasn’t a reader so my wife would read to him each night. I know odd to want to listen to something ‘scarey’ right before you go to sleep, but he loved it.

Now we have a granddaughter (his daughter actually) who loves a bit of mystery, suspense. She was so excited when she found out I was receiving a copy of this show. If your child(ren) enjoy being a little ‘afraid’ this limited series is perfect for them.

The characters are easy to like.

Rachel:

Rachel is kind, smart, and also sensitive. You will always see her with a sketchbook of spooky characters and monsters everywhere. She is the newest member of The Midnight Society, she comes out as the unexpected heroine in their battle against Tophat. She is so easy to love.

Gavin:

Gavin is Rachel’s cute neighbor. He is the ultimate boy next door, cool, kind, confident, with a positive carefree attitude. How many times do you wish when you were a kid a “Gavin” lived next door to you?

Akiko

An aspiring film-director, making a DIY horror movie with any money or professionals. Rulebreaker dislikes authority. He is the ‘bad’ boy with talent.

Graham

Good-natured and kind, but very tightly wound. He’s the comic relief — neurotics and a germophobe. Passionate about music. Graham is my kind of guy! I am not a germophobe myself…but I know how to provide comic relief.

Louise

Louise is the Captain of the cheer squad. She is a 10/10 on the popularity scale and everyone wants to be her friend. She is a Type A personality, as well as the leader of the group.

Tophat

Tophat is the ringmaster of the Carnival of Doom. He wears a top hat and tuxedo and carries a cane. Charismatic, charming, handsome and evil. Everything you are looking for in a ‘doomish’ character.

Join these great characters in this limited series. Let me know if you watch it and if you enjoyed it.
