Taking it to the next level
We all know the old saying…..
Another one opens……
It will be three weeks this coming Saturday since I made the decision to begin losing weight. I already feel ready to open the next door; to test myself. It’s important to be demanding of yourself, whether it be taking up a new project, or working out. This concept of writing is all new to me, as I just started on July 18th!. I’ve read a lot of posts from my wife, and from other bloggers, and they’re all inspiring! I’m challenging myself to write about my journey into weight loss. I feel I’m rising to the occasion. For both writing blog posts and working out to lose weight I had to be mentally ready. For me, there’s no reason to go into both not mentally prepared to tackle both. It would be a waste of time.
I have goals for both passions. I don’t refer to writing or losing weight as a “project”. To me, a project is adding a deck to your house, or what your child builds in school relating to a particular subject. I have a lot to learn when it comes to writing, and I am leaning on other people in my age group for weight loss/training. We can all learn something more in our respective fields or in the gym, so, thank you all, for giving me insights into the world of blogging!
Getting back to the subject of challenging myself. I went to the gym yesterday and worked my legs. I walked 15 minutes on the treadmill before lifting. I also did planks for 30 seconds and 15 jumping jacks after each set. I was sore. I was breathing a little hard! So worth it! Today, I’m not as sore. My recovery time is taking less time. That’s telling me that the protein shakes, food choices and water consumption are working. I feel I’m getting stronger! I’m glad I’ve been challenging myself. When you decide to work out, challenge yourself! It could be, “I’m going to do one more set,” or, “I’m going to add a little weight to my second, third and fourth set. Those little challenges can add up to monumental gains. As you’re turning fat into muscle, you’re burning more calories in your workout. Your body will want you to add more weight/sets! I’ve listened to some fitness experts, and they all agree on the same thing: it takes about 4 weeks to notice strength gains, and 8 weeks to see physical changes. I’m already noticing strength. I’m excited to start noticing physical changes!
Don’t be afraid to push yourself! Take the challenge head on! In the long run, you’ll be glad you did! It will be rewarding! If you’re beginning by taking walks, each week, add a little more distance or increase your speed. Or, do both! Once again, before attempting any workout activities, please, consult your doctor. Remind yourself that it’s going to be difficult, but you’re worth it!
Until next time……
Drink lots of water and be good to yourself!
I’ve started to take short walks in the evening recently. I intend to increase the distance.
That’s great, Veronica! Keep up the good work! It will pay off!
