Small Changes That Will Help You Lose Weight
Losing weight when you need to is never easy, especially gi you really love your food and you don’t exactly live a diet-friendly lifestyle. The good news is, there are a number of small lifestyle changes that you can make pretty effortlessly, but which will help you to lose weight over time. Let’s take a look at some of them now.
Write it down
Writing down everything you eat for a month will give you an amazing insight into your food habits, so you can identify any areas that are causing your issues and work on changing them slowly but surely.
Cut your plate by a third
Cutting calories is a no-brainer if you want to lose weight, and if you take one-third of everything away from your plate, you will find that you hardly notice the difference when eating, but you will notice the difference when you step on the scales.
Some people, including people who have had gastric sleeve surgery, find that switching to much smaller dinner plates helps them deal with a cut in portion sizes because the food looks bigger on the plate, so maybe try that too.
Add more veggies
Whenever you eat, remove one serving of starch or fat and replace it with one serving of green veggies and you will find that you start consuming fewer calories in a pretty painless way. If that seems too hard, don’t remove anything, but add one serving of veggies, Gradually remove the less optimum food from your plate and you will adjust to it with relative ease.
Switch to diet drinks
If you drink a lot of soda or sugary coffee, switch to diet versions that use sweeteners, or even better just drink water, and you will instantly cut out hundreds of calories each week by doing so without missing your usual drink (your tastebuds will adjust after a week or so.)
Take the stairs
Exercise can really help you to burn calories and lose weight, but if you aren’t used to regular exercise it can be difficult to get into. One small change you can make, though, is to use the stairs instead of the elevator or to cycle to work instead of driving. Build movement in your daily life and it will not feel so difficult for you to get some exercise in.
Bring lunch
Eating out is such a big part of daily life, but it usually means you are eating food that is less than optimum for your health, and your weight. By bringing a bagged lunch to work each day, you can ensure you are eating good stuff, and you don’t have to spend half of your break standing in line for food, which has to be worth it, right?
As you can see, you do not always need to make drastic changes in order to effectively lose weight and get healthy, and starting small is often the best way to ensure your weight loss is sustainable, so what are you waiting for?
